History of Photography:
1) A pinhole camera was invented by the Greeks which was basically just a small box that would have a hole for the light to got through.
2) Silver Nitrate is a photosensitive chemical that could be used for the film in a camera. It was discovered by Johann Heinrich Schulze.
3) A permanent photograph was first created in 1826. Before, the picture would deteriate and decay within a short amount of time.
4) Before daguerreotype cameraa, it would take 8 hours to capture a picture during which the subject would have to sit still.
5) The original cameras in the late 1800s were still so large and would take 30-120 seconds to take an image. It became hard for the subject to stay so still, so a head holding device was created to aid in the process.
How Does A Camera Work?
6) A Camera is essentially just a box with many different layers such as a lens, a shutter, and a film. Those are the basic parts to a camera.
7) The shutter is used to expose the film in the camera to light which creates a picture. The shutter button, when pressed, opens, allowing light to come through and also pulls up the mirror.
8) A mirror is used in a camera to reflect light that comes thorugh the lens to allow the photographer to see what the lens sees.
9) In recent years, there have been additions to the cmaera such as a screen to enable the photographer to view the image, just like the view finder .
10) A lens is composed of several different layers of glass to add more dimension and depth to a picture.
