The woman in this picture has a worried or depressed look on her face. She looks like she is waiting for someone or is longing for them. There is dirt on her and on the children leaning on her (her kids) leading one to assume that there is no father present in this situation. They children are rubbing their eyes making one believe that the family is in grief. The story behind this picture that is inferred is that the lady and her children were placed in a camp during war. The father was taken away, possibly to execution. This inference is based off all the details that the photographer included in this picture. When I first glanced at this picture, I immediately noticed the sorrow in the woman's eyes. Then my eyes gravitated towards the nature of the clothes that she and her children are wearing, and the dirt streaks on their arms and attire. Then the children, who have buried themselves in their mother, came into focus for me. I realized that they have covered their eyes with their hands to signify that they have been crying. Of course, when I saw this photograph, I processed all of the hardships that this family endured, and felt sorry for them. That is one of the aspects of the human nature; empathy.
